I was wondering if any of you had some advice on choosing a pediatrician for your newborn. What kinds of things should I look for? What questions should I ask? How many did you talk to before you decided on one?

I know that the baby will have to have a check-up at 2-3 weeks, right? So that would leave me little to no time to find one so I'm trying to do it now.

Thanks for any advice.

I found that asking around for recommendations was the way to go, then I called and made an interview appt. with the ones I wanted to meet. The clinic/office they're affiliated with should absolutely accomodate you with an interview appointment. If they don't, or they are rude, you don't want to go to them anyway.

Once you have the interview (and you can find checklists of questions to ask, check pregnancy.com and such), see how they feel to you, if you share the same parenting philosophies, etc. If you are planning to breastfeed, find a pedi that supports that and won't just shove formula on you, and vice versa. Same with vaccinations, etc.

Good luck!
